The National Science Foundation organized and ran a workshop on 20-21 October 2003 that brought together a multi-disciplinary team of experts from Academia, Industry, and Government with experience in the areas of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Information Technologies (IT) to explore the information infrastructure vulnerabilities in industrial control systems. The goal of the workshop was to identify both the near term technology solutions and the longer-term research needed to secure and strengthen the U.S. industrial infrastructure. The output of the workshop is a set of research needs that will help the stakeholders understand the Research and Development priorities in this nationally important area.
