Brian Isle 

Mr. Isle is the Chief of Operations and a member of the technical staff at Adventium Labs. His current technical focus is in assessment of critical infrastructure safety and security. Mr. Isle is currently supporting a Defense Department program developing approaches for automating aspects of vulnerability assessment for force protection at military bases and a Department of Homeland Security program to apply advanced cyber protection technology to control systems for critical infrastructure. Mr. Isle is the chair person for the Process Control Systems Forum special interest group on cyber security for manufacturing and process control systems. Mr. Isle provides consulting services to Adventium’s commercial clients to provide technical program reviews, advice on effective engineering operations, integration of new technology and creating go-to-market strategies.

Mr. Isle brings to Adventium Labs more than 12 years experience in research management and 8 years as a research scientist at Honeywell Laboratories. During the management time Mr. Isle led a group of 75 scientists doing applied research to create Honeywell's next-generation products. His team's accomplishments included developing the Primus Epic Avionics architecture for business/regional jets; the architecture for Boeing 777, creating new asset tracking/asset management systems; and developing optical components for multi-giga-bit/second networks. In this latter role, Mr. Isle was instrumental in defining and implementing a commercialization strategy for the DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Agency) funded Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers that resulted in the creation of Honeywell's VCSEL Product Division that for 3 years was the fast growing division in Honeywell. Additional successes in creating environments to enable technology transfer to flourish include the fostering and selling the idea for Honeywell to create a software center in India, the creation of the Applied Research Group in Phoenix that provided a pipeline for technology and talent to move from the Labs to the Phoenix businesses, and the creation of a Software Lab to focus on Honeywell's real time applications. Other technology transfer successes include licensing several software inventions to outside firms that resulted in several new software tool products and one start-up software company.

Mr. Isle was recognized with a Technical Achievement award for his work developing expert systems, advanced user interface systems, and other AI applications with emphasis on equipment health maintenance for Honeywell service, manufacturing automation, and control systems business. The activity resulted in four patents awarded for the design of multimedia expert systems. Mr. Isle has more than 20 publications dealing with the design of user interface, maintenance and diagnostic systems, high speed communication, and the delivery and use of expert systems.
